Always B Miki Wins Qualifier

Sept. 17 - Always B Miki won a qualifier at Pocono on Thursday morning in an effortless 1:50.1.

Always B Miki was driven by trainer Jimmy Takter, who also now shares an interest in the 4-year-old stallion by Always A Virgin. Takter sent "Miki" to the front and without visible exertion, the stallion paced to a 15 1/4-length score over Jones Beach with fractions of :28, :55.3 (:27.3 second quarter) and 1:22.3 (:27 third panel), and a :27.3 last quarter.

"He's a scary good horse," said Takter of Always B Miki, who he began training this year, after the horse suffered a broken P-3 bone just prior to last fall's Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Colt Pace. "I plan to qualify him again next week, in Lexington, and we'll go from there. I'm taking it one week at a time with him."

Bright Baby Blues 2, 1:55.0F ($247,328)  wins the Hudson filly trot elimination with driver Brian Sears at Yonkers Raceway.

July 21 - The Meadows - Bright Baby Blues Wins PASS
Bright Baby Blues had endured a frustrating season — no wins in six starts despite performing well — but her disappointment ended when she trotted strongly through a brief downpour and scored in 1:56 for David Miller, trainer Bob Stewart and owners Bluestone Farms and Fredericka Caldwell. Meadowbranch Wendy was second, 1 3/4 lengths back, while Lilu Hanover earned show.

"It’s a tough division anymore,” Stewart said of the daughter of Andover Hall-Bar Slide, who is eligible for the Hambletonian Oaks. "She trotted in 1:53 at the Meadowlands, and that wasn’t enough. But she’s a very nice filly. I don’t think she’s reached her potential yet. It was good to get an easy race into her. I don’t know if we’ll go to the Oaks or not. The owners will make that decision.”

Bluestone Farms bred Sliding Home wins in 2:00

Wilkes-Barre, PA --- June 28   Stakes action for 2-year-old Pennsylvania-sired horses kicked off Sunday (June 28) at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, with six divisions of a $180,000 event for trotting colts and geldings.

Donato Hanover had another siring credit in the All-Stars, Sliding Home, who is out of the 2010 Hambletonian Oaks-winning mare Bar Slide. Sliding Home quarter-moved to command and came home with twin :29.3 quarters to win easily in 2:00 for driver Corey Callahan, trainer Jonas Czernyson, and the Consus Racing Stable and be the only “chalk” to prevail in the six races.

May 6 - Bluestone Employee Pays Tribute to One of Its Mares

As I moved around the stall, Boo Boo tried to follow me, pivoting on her one good hind leg and lunging sideways on her bulging arthritic knees. Her thick tail was tangled with wood shavings and her bay coat needed brushing, but Boo insisted that her head would remain by my hip until all the treats in my pocket were hers.
